Surrounded by beautiful
scenery, flowers and people, my goal is to capture the
shapes, color and the flow of light over these subjects and
convey this vision to others with imagination and emotion.
For portrait and figurative
work I paint and photograph live models. I’m on the alert
for interesting faces wherever I go.
My floral and still life paintings are personally set
up and lighted, often with a group of artists for a larger
variety of objects and flowers.
The roses are from my husbands’ garden.
My landscapes are scenes from our travels and of the
beautiful desert around our home in Goldfield Ranch,
Arizona.
Once I determine my subject,
the next decisions are size, which medium, oil or
watercolor, and whether a realistic or an impressionistic
rendering will best convey the scene to the viewer.
Several sketches and sometimes a small painted study
reveal how best to achieve the desired impact:
peacefulness, whimsy, serene beauty or ruggedness.
To see with an artists’ eye is
a joy; to record the vision with creative imagination is a
skill and very challenging work.
I’m happy knowing that these efforts will bring much
pleasure for many years to those who hang my art in their
homes.
