Jon is an Arizona native growing up in Tempe and currently residing in Fountain Hills. He has been working as a photographer and photographic educator for 15 years. He currently teaches his award winning students digital and darkroom based photography at Mountain View High School in Mesa. He holds both a BS degree in Photography and a Masters of Education from Northern Arizona University.
Jon’s art is technically created by employing the timeless yet rapidly disappearing quality of traditional black and white film based photography. His favorite camera is an antique medium format twin lens reflex camera. He produces all his images by hand using darkroom chemical methods.
Jon’s work illustrates his strong connection to the geography of the Southwest. He seeks to capture the natural world from a uniquely romantic perspective. He makes photographs that have strong roots in the traditions of the imagery of the region, but are at the same time new and contemporary. His images are typically set in Arizona or one of the four corners states.
