Patty K. Sandler - Artist

Painting and Jewelry

P.K. Sandler began her career…well…at the beginning. While growing up at home. At school. At college. Watching her parents. Being inspired by her sister. Taking in the works of Georgia O'Keefe, Matisse, Picasso – all contributing to her love, passion, excitement and fun for creating, expressing and designing in both the abstract and the unexpected. It carries over into everything she does. Including building her website. Photographing her work. Her career as a freelance graphic designer. Even in her kitchen (have a look at SKEW.U! www.pksandler.com). She works with acrylic, built up in layers over varying textures, resulting in unique and interesting effects. In addition to P.K.'s focus on the paint medium, she designs and fabricates jewelry with a similar contemporary flair as she applies to paper.

Continuing in that vein, P.K. frames her work in a distinctive combination of aluminum, chrome, glass and canvas, adding a true third dimension to her paintings. P.K.'s work has never been for mass appeal; it is for the individual who is attracted to the connection of color balance, texture and the unknown in abstract work. Her main objective is to be experimental and open to the effects that color and texture leave on the surface. Flying the skies over the desert Southwest with her pilot husband, P.K. is energized by the spectacular beauty of the land where cobalt blue skies meet the myriad colors of the desert. Accordingly, each work is named after one of the many aviation intersections in the sky that cover the local airspace
