I am Kelly Bowman, a self-taught artist whose life has always been guided by color and connection. Growing up in the art colony town of Laguna Beach, I was surrounded by creativity from an early age. Later, living in Taos, New Mexico, I absorbed the influence of Southwestern art and culture before settling in Phoenix, Arizona. Here, the colors of the desert, the warmth of the Southwest, and the animals I live alongside continue to shape my artistic journey.

I create vibrant, energetic, and expressive portraits of animals—particularly dogs and horses. To me, animals carry an energy and spirit that can best be expressed through bold, lively color. When I paint, I don’t just capture their likeness, I bring their personalities to life through a kaleidoscope of hues, giving each portrait an emotional depth that touches the viewer. My work blends a deep respect for animals with a love for color, resulting in art that feels joyful, heartfelt, and alive.

I am inspired by the colors of nature, the soulful presence of animals, and the Southwestern lifestyle that surrounds me. Living with my husband, daughter, two golden retrievers, two Arabian horses, and the occasional wandering guest at our ranch house, I find endless sources of inspiration in the lives and spirits of animals. They remind me daily of joy, authenticity, and the bonds we share. Through my art, I celebrate that connection and hope to share it with others.
