Leslie Kiefus

A lifelong curiosity about how things work—whether electronics, economics, medicine, or machines—has always driven me. After a career as a Biomedical Engineer and time spent as a parent, I found a new way to channel that curiosity: through clay. In 2010, I took my first ceramics class and was hooked. Today, I pursue art on my own terms, finding fulfillment in exploring, building, and creating. I am a longtime resident of Scottsdale, and when I’m not traveling with my family, I am almost always thinking about clay.

Clay is a medium that fascinates me—both forgiving and therapeutic, yet magically transformed by heat and glaze. My work is often composed of multiple parts, making the final assembly a rewarding challenge. From shaping raw clay to completing finished installations in clients’ homes, I find each stage of the process addictive and deeply satisfying. Every piece I create reflects not only craftsmanship but also the joy of problem-solving and the wonder of transformation.
