Interview with Jenny Willigrod

What is your medium and why did you choose it?

Chalk Pastel. This is one of the only mediums I have worked with that will allow for a strong, bold, and bright color palette.

How long have you been making art?

Since I was a youngster!

Where do you get your inspiration?

From the desert southwest. Lovely night skies, beautiful cactus blossums, old chapels and stucco buildings. High canyon walls and streams and the rows of crops you see as driving down the road.

What does your studio look like?

My studio is my dining room table. It’s a mess when I’m busy.

What is your favorite time of day to make art? Anytime.

Do you listen to music or have complete silence when you work?

I always have the tv going in the background. On season 25 of Law and Order I think.

Describe your creative process?

I work mainly from memories and from the travels I have taken. Other artists can inspire me as well.

Describe your creative process?

I just hope my art invokes a happy memory for the person who chooses to purchase it.
